The year 2026 represents a critical milestone in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as the international community undertakes a midpoint assessment amid an evolving global development landscape. Infrastructure investments can be an effective vehicle to boost economic development, enhance climate resilience and advance sustainable development for all.
The Sustainable Infrastructure for the Belt and Road Initiative to Accelerate the SDGs Action Platform will convene the Second Global Business Summit on Belt and Road Infrastructure Investment to Accelerate the SDGs in early September 2026 in Singapore. Singapore’s Green Plan 2030 and related national strategies are closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They also reflect the core vision advanced by the UN Global Compact Action Platform on Sustainable Infrastructure for the Belt and Road Initiative to Accelerate the SDGs, which promotes high-quality, private-sector engagement in sustainable infrastructure and regional connectivity to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Under the theme “Connect for Better World,” the Summit will provide a high-level and action-oriented platform for dialogue, partnership and collective actions to advance the 2030 Agenda. Guided by the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the Summit will focus on advancing sustainable infrastructure investment, strengthening digital integration, and promoting inclusive and resilient growth for Better Business and Better World.
The Summit, organized in collaboration with the UN Global Compact Network Singapore, will bring together representatives from governments, the private sector, international organizations, financial institutions, think tanks and academia. It aims to facilitate the exchange of practical solutions, strengthen policy-implementation linkages, and catalyze partnerships that align investment with the Global Compact Ten Principles and the SDGs.
Built on the Inaugural Summit in Indonesia, this year’s Summit in Singapore will unveil a series of key outcomes and deliverables including: 2026 Summit Declaration, flagship research outputs, SDG pilot projects, sustainable development initiatives, and the establishment of a Sustainable Energy Expert Group, with a view to advancing practical cooperation among countries and stakeholders to accelerate energy transition to achieve the Paris Agreement.
On behalf of the BRI for SDG Action Platform, we are pleased to invite you to participate in this important gathering. Your engagement will contribute to advancing collective efforts towards a green, inclusive, resilient, and peaceful future.
Leveraging the UN Global Compact Belt and Road Action Platform, the Summit will connect relevant departments in China and Singapore, UN agencies, multinational enterprises and international organizations to build a high-level international dialogue and cooperation platform.
Based on complementary China-Singapore industrial strengths and regional market demand, the Summit will help companies understand Singapore and ASEAN business environments, policy rules and cooperation opportunities.
Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the Summit will focus on green infrastructure, green finance, digital enablement and health-related topics to provide practical pathways for sustainable transformation.
Through Maritime Silk Road cultural cooperation, the Summit will promote mutual learning among civilizations, integrate economic and trade exchanges, and expand regional cooperation opportunities.
The Summit will launch the 2026 Singapore Declaration, flagship research outputs, China-Singapore cooperation project lists, and expert groups in areas such as sustainable energy and digital infrastructure.
The Summit will bring together political, business, financial and industry leaders to share international compliance and sustainable development experience and connect companies with quality partners.
